The Mountain Dew Gear Up for Education Summer Read Challenge
Mountain Dew and WMNX Coast 97.3 are challenging kids and their parents to keep learning, even during the dog days of summer. Beginning on July 1 we will instruct listeners to go to our website https://www.coast973.com and download the Summer Read Challenge reading list. The list will contain a list of books compiled from the New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties reading lists for high school students. Listeners between the 9th and 12th grades will be challenged to read a minimum of 4 books, in their grade level, on the list, in order to complete. Each student that completes the Summer Read Challenge and has a parent or legal guardian sign off on the challenge form will be entered to win an iPad from Mountain Dew and Walgreen’s. All listeners who qualify are encouraged to show up at a grand finale remote to be held on Saturday, July 27 at a local area Walgreen’s location. All who attend the remote broadcast on July 27, with completed reading list in hand, signed by their parent or legal guardian, will be entered into the qualifying round. Every 15 we will draw 15 names that will become our final qualifiers, receive a backpack with school supplies, and will be eligible to compete for the iPad. A total of 50 qualifiers will be selected and from those entries 1 name will be drawn for the grand prize iPad. We will conduct a total of 4 remotes prior to the finale on July 27, to promote the Summer Read Challenge and to hand out reading lists. The Mountain Dew Summer Read Challenge will be conducted in accordance with station contest rules and all participants are subject to those rules and regulations.
